Ghaianian Artistes are intimidated by foreign arts - Keche

Ghana Flag
It has being the norm of our cultural upbringing and part of our nature as Ghanaians and  you may have also heard some chatter about how Ghanaian Artist look Intimidated when the meet their colleague rivals in the industry on a neutral ground.

Not surprising though coming from a country where respect is "when the elderly is talking - don't dare to talk" i.e even if the basis of what is being said by such person is not making sense.
We live in a country where we don't believe in what we are capable of achieving but rather hide behind small power we have over another just to intimidate them and ask for respect in return and this is done to us from our infancy and we grow with that typical laidback lifestyle of the ordinary Ghanaian.

However, narrowing it down to entertainment, Sammy Flex asked "Do Ghanaian Artiste feel intimidated  when they meet their colleagues outside the country on shows? " on Showbiz Agenda @ Zylofon Fm

And points were made clear by  Keche Joshua who was there with Keche Andrew and their manager beardedman George Britton. This is what they had to say;

  • We don't invest in our music as compared to our colleagues outside the country:
He stated that the cost invoved in shooting a video with some top notch directors for which he mentioned few and stated the amount involved in contracting them for a video and added what they do after shooting the video the extra work done to enable the make up for the amount invested on YouTube, Vimeo etc.
This he said contributes to how big the artiste see themselves because all this brings money in their pocket and this eventually ends up boosting the confidence and also push promoters also to give them respect they are enjoying and general confidence they exude as compared to Ghanaian Artiste

  • We don't connect as Ghanaians

For instance we were at Connecticut when Davido came and Nigerians there met him and all of a sudden his entourage became solid but Ghanaians will not even bother to connect as nigerians did.

George Britton said this on the "famous Dubai Incident"
What really happened was I stood backstage to see Black Nana pushed down by a person who happens to be part of the entourage of a Nigerian artist and I was not happy with.
This is what happened when Sarkodie was in Dubai and I was not happy with it so I decided to push it so that as Ghanaians we will stop this from happening again but I think because they want to maintain their relationship with the organisers of the event so they decided to be silent and this for instance will not happen when a Nigerian Artiste is involved but this is a typical Ghanaian trait

Stuffs like this happens because when we as Ghanaians travel we go with our layback kind of lifestyle and we travel with small entourage  as compared to our other colleagues (Nigerians, South Africans, etc) but was quick to add that Shatta Wale is doing things right on this one because when call him he comes with all

  • They package and brand themselves well
George Britton said, the least car he saw in dubai in Davido's fleet of cars at display was a Rangerover  whilst our own King_Money_No_Be_Problem was there with a simple saloon car

Furthermore Willie Roi also brought a whole new dimension to this topic but his point in summary was that Ghanaians Artiste have to be intimidated because we are not doing things right as compared to the kind of structures there is in our sister industry out there.

My view on this is simple and short  "we are all to blame but and elders in the industry now should sit up and do the work because they are in charge now"

After reading this please share your view on this and suggest ways to move away from this canker
